FlintBoard vs a FIRE spreadsheet

A spreadsheet is enough when you calculate a number once and type the balances yourself. FlintBoard is for a Canadian household that drops in statements each month. Net worth, progress, and account room update from those rows.

When a spreadsheet is enough

  • You have a few accounts, and updating the cells takes a few minutes.
  • You want the formulas where you can see them, and you are fine keeping them up.
  • You check the plan a few times a year. You are not bringing in new statements every month.
  • A detail you care about lives in the sheet, and this board does not track that detail.

The monthly routine

You still download the CSV. Upload it, review what landed, and progress and account room follow the rows you keep.

Review what landed

3

See progress and account room
