Terms of Use
Last updated: October 28, 2026
These Terms govern your use of FlintBoard. By using the service you agree to them. FlintBoard is a Canadian product. These terms are not a substitute for legal advice about your own situation.
Educational use only
FlintBoard is a visual and educational aid to help you understand your finances (including FIRE models, TFSA/RRSP room, tax insights, debt, rental, and CPP/OAS context). It is not tax, investment, legal, or pension advice.
Figures shown in the app may be incomplete, approximate, or wrong. Do not use FlintBoard outputs as a legal document, CRA or Revenu Québec filing, accountant handoff format, or official tax entry.
You alone are responsible for verifying numbers with a qualified professional and for any decisions you make. To the extent permitted by applicable law, FlintBoard and its operators are not liable for losses arising from reliance on these calculations.
Your workspace
Financial data you enter or import is stored in your FlintBoard workspace on our server. We do not sell your household financial data, and we do not send it to advertisers or other companies. There is no bank-login aggregation; you choose what to upload. Workspace databases and uploaded statement files are encrypted so a copy of those files is not readable without our server key. Sign-in records, the product-update list, shared snapshot files, and feedback you sent are stored separately and are not encrypted. Someone who controls the live server can still see what the app can see. You may download a backup (a plaintext JSON file saved where you choose) or permanently delete that workspace from Settings (Delete my data). Deletion removes the workspace database, statement files recorded for that workspace, this account's documents inbox, and share links you published. Bug reports and feature requests you sent stay on the host.
Statement imports
Statements are stored with that account and encrypted. We do not sell them and we do not connect to your bank. You upload at your own risk; operators are not liable for security incidents to the extent permitted by law.
Before uploading a CSV statement, you must confirm that you understand and accept these import terms. The original file is stored on our server in that workspace's import folder. It is encrypted so a copied file is not readable without our server key, until you delete the workspace from Settings.
Feedback
You may send bug reports and feature requests from the signed-in or demo app. We store the text you submit on the application host so operators can review it. That file is not encrypted. Do not include account numbers, balances, or statement contents in that text.
Security and incidents
We take reasonable steps to keep data private. Encryption makes a copied workspace database or uploaded statement file unreadable without our server key. It does not encrypt sign-in, product-update, share, or feedback files, and it does not hide data from someone who controls the running server. No system is perfectly secure. To the extent permitted by applicable law, FlintBoard and its operators are not liable for unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, corruption, or other security incidents involving data you choose to upload or store.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, FlintBoard and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Canadian law (including for fraud or gross negligence where such exclusion is not allowed).
Without limiting the foregoing, to the extent permitted by applicable law, FlintBoard and its operators are not liable for calculation errors, incomplete or inaccurate estimates, or any loss from using the app for tax filing, legal documentation, or other professional or official purposes.
Optional analytics on marketing pages
If you accept cookies, we may use Google Analytics 4 on public pages, including the FAQ, the spreadsheet comparison, and shared FIRE snapshots. It is never loaded inside your signed-in financial workspace (/app). Google may process those page views in the United States. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Alberta have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections that may apply where you live.
Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes to import terms will require a new version acceptance before further uploads. Continued use after other updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
