Cookie Policy

FlintBoard uses a small set of cookies. You can accept or reject optional analytics cookies with equal prominence. Rejecting does not block the site.
Essential cookies
flintboard_session— signed session after login (httpOnly).flintboard_workspace— which workspace database to open (httpOnly).flintboard_cookie_consent— remembers your Accept / Reject choice for analytics.flintboard_fire_familiar—yesorno. Set when you answer whether you know FIRE on the homepage or before the demo. Either answer hides that question until you clear the cookie.flintboard_money_familiarstoresnew,saves, orplansafter you say how familiar saving and investing are. New to it shows a short crash course. The other two answers skip it. This is separate from whether you know FIRE. The cookie stays until you clear it.flintboard_demo_agestoresskipor your age after the demo asks how old you are. Skip keeps the sample at 35. A number replaces that age for the visit. A refresh does not ask again until you clear the cookie.flintboard_dashboard_tour—seenafter you skip or finish the demo tour. A signed-in account stores that on the profile instead, so a second browser does not play the tour again.
Optional analytics cookies
Only after you accept, and only when analytics is configured on this host, Google Analytics 4 may set cookies such as _ga. Those cookies are used on public pages (home, sign-in, the FAQ, the spreadsheet comparison, legal, and shared FIRE snapshots). They are never used on signed-in /app pages, where your statements and balances appear, or on setup, the demo, or a read-only share sample. Page addresses are sent without query strings, so a sign-in link is not included. Google may process that page-view data in the United States. If you have not accepted, or analytics is not configured, those scripts are not loaded. Essential session and workspace cookies stay httpOnly and are separate from this choice. Details: Privacy Policy.
Local storage in this browser
Some choices live in this browser's sessionStorage or localStorage instead of a cookie. Cookie consent is also mirrored there. Import terms acceptance can be stored that way. Signed-out Simple / Intermediate / Expert lives in flintboard_ui_profile. Light or dark is stored in flintboard_theme. Optional AI estimates store flintboard_ai_estimate_enabled in localStorage. The provider key is stored in sessionStorage under flintboard_ai_estimate_key unless you check Remember on this device, which moves it to localStorage. flintboard_ai_estimate_remember records that choice. The key is not a cookie, is not sent to FlintBoard, and is removed when you clear site data or use Clear key in Settings. This is not used for analytics, so the consent banner version is unchanged.
Product update email
The product-update checkbox is not a cookie. It is separate from flintboard_session and from flintboard_cookie_consent. Accepting or rejecting analytics does not join or leave the product-update list. Signing in does not join that list either. We store an address only when you check the box and submit it. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Your choice
